Live Local, Learn Local, Work Global - On The Fleurieu
Hatch Business Academy is a collaboration between three Fleurieu locals Rhys Adams, Julie Irwin and kiwi import, Rosemary (Rosie) Killip. Julie has lived and owned businesses in the area for over 30 years, Rhys was raised here and also a business owner. Rosie is a more recent arrival and brings 30 years of learning and development expertise, as well as her own small-town upbringing perspective. Collectively they have over 60 years of business experience and real-world learnings.
All three share a passion for seeing locals being trained locally, working locally and enjoying the fruits of living in regional SA. To that end, Hatch will offer practical skills-based training on the Fleurieu kicking off with Customer Service Training and Sales Skills Refreshers in time for the tourist season.
Their big vision is to train locals to become outsourced professional service providers, thus providing jobs as well as training opportunities in the region. Local businesses can benefit from having ready access to upskilling for their own staff without having to travel into the city.
In 2020 they will pilot a Virtual Assistants Training Program, enabling participants to learn the key skills of a virtual assistant so they can live local, but work for global or interstate clients. There is a growing demand for these services globally.
Hatch will also collaborate with local employers to create relevant workplace training in a timely customised manner. This is not qualifications-based training, however these are skills that can be put to work immediately. Hatch will work with TAFE SA and other tertiary providers to create links and pathways to more formal qualifications for those who have tested the waters first with one of the Hatch programs.
